File Extension PDF

File extension PDF means "Portable Document Format" and it was created by Adobe Systems in 1993 to facilitate document exchange. After creation of the internet this format experienced significant growth and became de-facto standard for document exchange on the internet. One of the great PDF document advantages is that it looks on the computer screen in a pretty much the same way it will look on a paper if you print it.

PDF is probably one of the most common document file you can find on the internet after HTML. Lots of government forms and applications are stored in this format. Thus it is very important to know how to open files in this format.

    • Simplest way to do this is to download Adobe Acrobat Reader which is a free application from Adobe.
    • If you already have it downloaded but when you double click on PDF files it doesn't open then there is a good chance you have a problem with association of PDF extension with Adobe application. To verify if you have this problem you need to run registry scan application. One of them called RegCure is available on this site for a free download.
